HEPA Air Purifiers

HEPA air purifiers have been around for a while, but there's a lot of folks that don't really know what they are or what they do. Some people think they're only for allergy sufferers, and some think they're too expensive for most. In reality, everyone could use one of these wonderful machines, and those that haven't tried a HEPA air purifier are really missing out!

Indoor Air Is Susceptible To Pollution, Too

It's a simple fact: odds are, the air in your home is more polluted than the air outside. This is without taking into consideration additional pollutants such as heavy dust environment, pet dander, or cigarette smoke. We're talking about the average home, here, not some slum in the middle of downtown. Our bodies are made to handle some air pollution, but cars are made to handle wrecks, too. That doesn't mean it's good for you.

There Are Always Pollutants

But you don't smoke, don't have pets, and a nice, lush lawn keeps the dust outside where it belongs. So you assume, and logically so, that you don't need a HEPA air purifier. This is, unfortunately, not the case. You would be shocked at what all can contaminate your home. Do you, by chance, have furniture? The dyes in fabrics and the chemicals used to treat the wood frames are all susceptible to what's called outgassing. The outgassing of these chemicals pollutes your air. That wonderful green lawn that keeps the dust down? Pollen, natural as it may be, is just as much a pollutant as anything manufactured. HEPA air purifiers are made to take care of just about every contaminant out there.

Even If Pollutants Don't Matter, Do Odors?

You could be one of the few folks out there that have no allergy problems, don't ever get sick, and don't even care about pollutants. Believe it or not, you could benefit from a HEPA air purifier, too. There are pollutants that don't really cause you to be sick, but aren't particularly enjoyable. We're talking about odors. HEPA air purifiers can even clear your air of odors. However, if this is the main goal, be sure to check the specifications of the purifier you choose as some don't have this feature.

Even If Neither Odors Nor Pollutants Matter To You...

Just because you're not feeling or smelling the effects of air pollutants does not mean there are none. Some of the latest studies have shown that indoor air pollution can be linked to some truly strange, but scary maladies. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), these can include heart diseases, respiratory diseases, and even cancer! So, why aren't HEPA air purifiers installed in every new home? Well, truth is, they are. They're called air conditioners, and using a HEPA air filter in your AC is the equivalent of having one big HEPA air purifier. However, since your AC does not feed from everywhere at once, the effect is just not enough. Additional HEPA air purifiers, especially in those areas that are most lived in, will even further increase your quality of life.
